Should basketball have height divisions similar to how wrestling and boxing have weight divisions?

Wrestling and boxing have weight division so there is a fair playing filed. But what about basketball? There are players in the NBA who are  almost a foot taller than there opponent. We have Kevin Durant (6'9), Kevin Garnett (6'11), Shaquille O'Neal (7'1) and Yao Ming (7'6). On the shorter side we have Rajon Rondo (6'1), Chris Paul (6'0), Allen Iverson (6'0) and Squad Webb (5'7). How is that fair? People will argue that your skills will shine through your height. That may be true but lets say you are Rajon Rondo 6'1 and you are against Yao Ming who is 7'6. He is more than a foot taller than you. When you go up to the basket Yao Ming will not even have to jump in order to block him. "jacksumadness" posted, "Basketball should be a sport for all Players are recruited based on their height. The taller the more likely they are recruited. Some of these tall basketball players never dribbled a ball in their life but are scouted by the NBA on first glance whereas there are average to short people that have been playing basketball all their life and have the passion and enjoyment of playing it. To have height divisions of basketball would allow these height challenged players to fulfill their dreams. Plus if you have only giant basketballs, how are short fans supposed to relate to them?" On the other hand "thenativeamercians" posted, "That would make life boring Lots of the fame the NBA got was because of the number of different guys, big or small, got together to play a good professional game of basketball. Spud Webb had created a great slam dunk contest game versus Dominique Wilkins. Would we have seen that if there were divisions? Probably not, the height difference makes very creative moments. Remember Magic Johnson playing center? That was one of the best moment in sports history, that is what makes basketball fun."
Overall I believe that the NBA is better off the way they are now. I do feel bad for the (5'11) player who did not get drafted due to his height. However if the payer is a lot taller than it would be easier for that person to have rebounds and make baskets without even trying. It all has to do with the perspective of the coach.

Is it wrong for parents of child athletes to yell and scream during games?

I'm sure we have all gone to a sports game and there is always that one mom or dad screaming on the top of their lungs for their child to do better. Sometimes theses parents get out of control and compose even more pressure on there children than needed. According to a www.debate.com "Cheering for your child to do well is one thing. This is positive reinforcement. However, when parents are just yelling at the child for what they did wrong or chastising other players, this is inappropriate. Parents who yell and scream at the referees are probably the most effective example of inappropriate behavior. There is a difference between cheering and being obnoxious." Another comments left on www.debate.com stated that " No, the parents can do what they want. Telling a parent to be quiet because they are cheering their kids on too loud is wrong. Unless a parents is screaming at another child, then it is wrong. As long as they are yelling at their own child, there is nothing that anyone can so as they can say what they want to their child."
My own personal opinion is that if a parent is cheering for the team and their child, I see nothing wrong even if the parent is cheering too loud, they are just supporting the team. If there is a parent who is criticizing their own child in front of all the fans I believe that can come across as unnecessary and just to wait until the end of the game to tell the child the mistakes that they have made. Parents should not scream it out and have the child feel embarrassed in front of the whole team. However if there is a parent yelling at the whole team and comes across as rude than the person should be asked to leave if they are yelling at other peoples children. The only adult that should be able to give harsh criticism is the coach and/or assistant coach.

Is the NFL abusing the rules of "concussion's" when it comes to penalty flags and fines?

The NFL today is getting to hard on enforcing the concussion rules and NFL will be suffering as well,  the viewership will decline if the irrelevant calls continue.  The referees have become very strict when they call hits to head, it could have happened that the opponent could of gently tapped the player on the head and they would receive a 15 yard penalty. The NFL will than review the hit to determine whether or not the hit is worthy of a fine. The fine may be 10,000  dollars to hundreds of thousands of dollars that the player would have to pay. Many times a simple touch or accidental hit to the head area can cause a massive fines ,suspensions and in many cases it has a huge impact on the game because they receive a 15 yard penalty. The sport of football is a very contact sport and in many cases these hits are impossible from preventing when already in action. If calls like these continue fans will not view the sport any longer because the referees will be controlling the game and choose who the winner and looser shall be. The Patriots tackle Vince Wilfork is a victim of these fines. As well as Rodney Harrison who played safety.
A referee should absolutely make an appropriate call when it comes to concussions. There are a very serious head injury that may or may not heal.  Players of all major sports receive a concussion and there is no real way to prevent them. According www.dosomething.org "Head trauma resulting in brain injury is the greatest killer under the age of 45 and the greatest cause of disability in people under 44. Brain injury's kill more children under age 20 than every other cause combined." A concussion is very grave injury and should be treated immediately. But when the player gets called for these types of penalty and the opponent was no where near to obtaining a concussion the call was useless.

Do athletes bear any responsibility for being role models for children?

We live in a very sport condensed area with the Boston Bruins, New England Patriots, Boston Celtics and the Boston Red Sox, so if you were to ask a New Englander about their hometown athletes you better believe they will have a large amount of information about their sports. But the question of do celebrity athlete’s bear any responsibility for being role models for children may cause some controversy for many reasons. Let’s take Tom Brady, legendary quarterback for the New England Patriots, he obtains responsibility to convey a good player and teammate throughout his whole NFL season. Children look up to Tom Brady because they all see how successful he is and the life he has made for himself throughout his hard work and determination.  He is also widely known for being married to the supermodel Gisele Bundchen and they have a beautiful family together. This is a good example for children to see because they will understand the family values a good player obtains.

Unfortunately the New England Patriots has also had the down fall of Aaron Hernandez. This 24 year old has gotten himself in a big conundrum, he is charged with murder and was once am idol for young children in New England. When Aaron was put into jail Robert Kraft, the owner of the New England Patriots, released him from the team. Then later that week any fan who had bought Hernandez's jersey where able to bring it back to the Pro Shop and exchange it for a different player’s jersey. This is an example of a player who really messed up his life, the 24 year old millionaire is now strictly looking at a long hard road ahead of him.

Overall if children look up to the correct athletes and follow in their footsteps they will be able to pursue their dreams, and yes athletes do obtain a large amount of pressure for being a good role model for children. If the children wish to pursue in a professional sport than they will have to look up to the athletes who give them good examples. If these children where to reach there goal then they will know to inspire the lives of children as giving back to their community.

Aquib Talib excited to join the Denver Broncos

Its true, the once Patriot corner back in now officially a Denver Bronco. He was a respected player from all his teammates and will know be continuing on his NFL career with a different team. The former Patriots cornerback signed his new, six-year contract worth $57 million, with $26 million guaranteed on Wednesday March 12, 2014.According to www.bostonglobe.com  Talib stated “Thanks for the opportunity to be here, opportunity to play for a great organization,” at an introductory news conference in Denver. The president of the Denver Bronco's John Elway is now having a sigh of relief, “We know how much we hated playing against him, so we’re thrilled he’s come to the Denver Broncos, He’s a tremendous player, tough, great cover guy. He’s going to really add to our secondary."
Know what does this mean for the Patriots? So far the team is just letting players go and not having any come in. Although there are some star worthy free agents still available such as Emmanuel Sanders and Santonio Holmes. Unfortunately the Patriots also let go of Julian Edelman the wide receiver who was one of Brady's passionate players. Not to mention last years lost of Wes Welker to the Denver Bronco's as well. How will the Patriots do next year? No one really knows but as long as New England still has Tom Brady, Bill Belichick and our die hard fans I have a feeling we will come out on top!

Superbowl quarterback Russell Wilson takes the baseball field!

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson visits the Texas Rangers for a day at Surprise Stadium.               The Seattle Seahawks recently took home the Super bowl title on February 2,2014 but is that all Mr. Wilson has in his plans? Maybe possibly a World Series champ too? On March 3, 2014 Russell Wilson was seen on the Texas Rangers field, showing off some of his unique skills. His good attitude lead to a positive outcome from some of his teammates. According to www.profootball.com “He talked about self-motivation and on priding himself on getting ready,” outfielder Michael Choice said. “To see a guy that age that poised and that prepared was really impressive. He is well beyond his years in terms of wisdom. Yes, I learned something, but I think he could talk to 40-year-olds and they’d learn something, too.” Mr. Wilson was taking his session's very seriously and wanted to prove his skills on the baseball field.  According to the report, outfielder Michael Choice stated that Wilson “remained very focused on every grounder and every pivot. He smiled easily, but appeared to be totally locked in." Maybe there is room for a world series ring along with his super bowl ring.
Wilson is not the only athlete who has encompassed two professional sports, there is Bo Jackson who is a retired professional baseball and football player and also Michael Jordan who is a  former professional baseball and basketball player. Jackson was selected with the first overall pick of the 1986 NFL Draft by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but he opted to play baseball for the Kansas City Royals, who had drafted him in the fourth round in the 1986 amateur draft. He is the only athlete to be named an All Star  in two major American sports and he was named the greatest athlete of all time by ESPN. While Jordan surprised the sports world by signing a minor league baseball contract with the Chicago White Sox on February 7, 1994. He was also a player of the NBA Chicago Bulls from 1984-1993 and 1995-1998.
Overall there are no limits when an athlete is determined to leave a mark on professional sports history, while retired or just starting a major career they will be forever remembered and embraced by fans all over the country. And you never know maybe soon we will see Wilson on the baseball filed this year.
